The Ruin is an elegy, a poem with themes such as death, loneliness and the passage of time. It originates from the Exeter Book, an anthology of Anglo-Saxon poetry originally written in Old English. The text in this book consists of a translation of the original elegy with additional inspired text and illustrated images.
